Born in Q2-1920 [Newmarket 3b:998], the son of Theodore and Alice Emma TALBOT (née STEBBINGS) of Kimberley Terrace, Field Terrace Road, Newmarket.
In the 1939 register, at 1 Kimberley Terrace, Field Terrace Road, Newmarket were his father Theodore [5-4-1883] private gardener, his mother Alice E [9-6-1888] and sister Janet L [22-6-1928] later DOHERTY. There are 3 closed records. |

Newmarket Journal of 14th September 1940 reported that Eric had drowned in the sea near Gt Yarmouth. The Bury Free Press of 14th September 1940 reported:- NEWMARKET SOLDIER DROWNED Lance-Corporal Eric Arthur Talbot of "D" Company, 1st Battalion, Cambridgeshire Regiment was drowned on the East Coast on September 3rd. Lce-Cpl Talbot was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Talbot, 1 Kimberley Terrace, Newmarket and was only 20 years of age. In a letter to his father, Capt J.R.Ennion says: "As your son's Company Commander for several years I am writing to express to you and your wife the very deep sympathy of all the officers, NCOs and men of the Company, especially the Newmarket men, in the great loss you have suffered through his untimely death. He had recently been made a Lce-Corpl, and I regarded him as one of the most promising of my junior NCOs, as he always set a good example by his smartness, keenness and general good behaviour. |
